As expected, President Obama returned from his vacation with almost the same script that he left with, blasting Republicans for not allowing action on a small business jobs bill to spur economic growth.

"Small business owners and the communities that rely on them, they don't have time for political games," said the President, who urged the GOP to drop its filibuster in the Senate.

"I know we're entering election season, but the people who sent us here expect us to get things done," said Mr. Obama from the White House Rose Garden.

After a meeting with key advisers, the President conceded that there is no 'magic bullet' to solve the current economic situation, as the White House indicated that there will be a series of plans targeted economic plans laid out in coming weeks.

"The President has, throughout the last many months and today, went over different ideas and different proposals, some of which are new, yes," said White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

"I think you'll hear the President discuss a series of these ideas over the course of the next many weeks."

But as for getting bills through the Congress that could boost the economy, right now, the White House is concentrating on a small business bill, which includes a $30 billion credit fund to help small businesses expand.

One staffer for a GOP Senator told me that they had heard a lot of complaints from small business groups back home about the lack of action on this small business measure.

So far though, it hasn't really become a political liability, as Republican critics compared the $30 billion fund to the TARP/Wall Street bailout program.

At this point, it looks like the White House alternately lay out ideas and bash Republicans for blocking plans to spur new economic growth.

Republicans meanwhile, will stick with their attacks that the stimulus and other plans aren't the way to get the economy moving again.

Election day is nine weeks away.
