Macy's to open at midnight Thanksgiving Day

Your turkey dinner will hardly have digested by the time you can go shopping this year.

Macy's just announced they will open at midnight on Black Friday, instead of 4 a.m. as they did last year.

That may put an end to camping out for the best deals. Macy's shoppers can just stay up on Thanksgiving Day and start shopping at midnight.

A marketing executive said that people want to shop through the night and the expanded hours are in response to consumers' requests.

Last year, Macy's opened eight stores at midnight and shoppers seemed to like that better than waiting until 4 a.m.

On Friday, Target announced that for the first time ever, it will also be opening its doors at midnight. That's four hours earlier than last year.

Target stores will stay open for 23 hours straight, closing at 11 p.m. on Friday, November 25.

Black Friday specials used to be closely guarded secrets, but now many deals are being leaked to websites like BlackFriday.com and BlackFriday2011.com, so shoppers can map out their bargain-hunting strategies weeks ahead of time.
