MIDLAND, Mich. — Jason Bour hit his first home run of the season and drove in three runs as the Dayton Dragons defeated the Great Lakes Loons 4-2 in Midwest League play Tuesday night, July 1.
Dayton, 6-7 in the second half, built a 4-0 lead over the first four innings before Great Lakes rallied to pull within two runs with the tying run on in the sixth. But Jeff Jeffords retired the final 12 batters, including six on strikeouts, to earn the save in relief of starter Luis Montano.
Montano (8-5) gave up two runs on five hits, striking out two.
• Dragons shortstop Zack Cozart and third baseman Brandon Waring both missed the game because of injuries. Waring has not played since Saturday due to a sprained thumb. Cozart sprained his shoulder Monday.
