Bengals linebacker Blackstock suspended
He violated NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances; spot on roster filled by tailback Watson.

CINCINNATI — As expected, tailback Kenny Watson was re-signed to the Bengals' active roster Tuesday, Oct. 7, three days after he was released to make room for wide receiver Chris Henry.
Watson fills the roster spot previously occupied by linebacker Darryl Blackstock, who was suspended the next four games without pay for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances.
Blackstock will be eligible to return to team activities Nov. 10, the Monday before Game 10 against Philadelphia. Until then, he's not allowed to attend meetings or practice.
Blackstock apologized to coaches, teammates and fans for what he called his "unfortunate mistake.
"I did not intentionally violate the policy," he said. "But I know it's my responsibility to use only approved nutritional supplements, and I didn't realize I
was taking an over-the-counter product that included a banned substance."
Watson, the Bengals' leading rusher in 2007 with career-highs of 763 rushing yards and 1,137 yards from scrimmage, has 32 rushing yards on seven carries (4.6) this year. He missed the Bengals' 20-12 loss to Cleveland (Sept. 28) because of a strained hamstring.
The Bengals also signed rookie cornerback Simeon Castille to the practice squad after he cleared waivers.
Castille was the only college free agent to make the season-opening roster. He registered six tackles in four games before getting waived Oct. 3.
