FAIRBORN — The Dayton Bombers picked up Fresno Falcons defenseman Joe Van Culin, 26, on Tuesday, Aug. 26, in exchange for forward Grant Goeckner-Zoeller.
Van Culin, a Ferris State University graduate, posted a career-high 21 assists last season. The Minnesota native was a two-time Academic Award honoree and won the fastest skater competition at the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge.
Goeckner-Zoeller, a California native, tallied five goals and 10 assists in 35 games with the Bombers but was plagued by injuries to his groin and shoulder late in the season.
The Bombers also traded forward Ryan MacGregor to the Ontario Reign for future considerations.
