Raider guards garner preseason honors

They have been picked to finish second in the Horizon League, so it stood to reason the Wright State Raiders would have a couple of preseason men's basketball honorees.
Vaughn Duggins, who averaged 12.8 points per game as a sophomore, was named first team all-league, and fellow junior Todd Brown was voted onto the second team in a poll released Thursday, Oct. 9.
Duggins, a 6-foot-3 guard from Pendleton, Ind., was first team all-league last season after leading the Raiders in scoring. Brown, a 6-5 guard from Canton, averaged 12.7 points and 4.3 rebounds while starting all 31 games. The Raiders finished 21-10, losing to Valparaiso in the second round of the league tournament.
Brown led the team in 3-point shooting, hitting 60-of-142 (42 percent).
"Both players have meant so much to our success and it is great to see them recognized by the league," WSU coach Brad Brownell said.
Josh Mayo of Illinois-Chicago was voted preseason Player of the Year.
WSU opens Nov. 15 at the Nutter Center against Illinois State.
