By Staff Report

Wednesday, October 08, 2008

FAIRBORN — Wright State recorded nine blocks and committed just 12 attack errors, but it wasn't enough as Valparaiso defeated the Raiders 25-21, 25-17, 25-22 in Horizon League action Tuesday night, Oct. 7, at the C.J. McLin Gymnasium.

The first set featured 10 ties and five lead changes until Valparaiso went ahead for good at 20-15 on six straight points. The Raiders closed to within one at 21-20 thanks in part to a Lili Williams service ace and a Shaunda Sandifer kill, only to see the Crusaders follow with three consecutive points.

Valparaiso took control early in the second set with six unanswered points to break a 3-3 deadlock and then won the third set with a 6-0 run to overcome a 19-17 WSU lead.

Lexi Leonhard led the way for Wright State with 12 kills while Becca Awaa had nine and Michelle Hammond posted a double-double of 30 assists and 10 digs.

Wright State (6-12, 4-3 Horizon) is back in action Wednesday hosting Butler in another league match starting at 7 p.m.

Amelia's Bistro, Bellbrook, restaurant review [review]

From crab raviolis with vanilla lobster sauce, to a hand-cut and brined pork chop served with a fig jam, to a simply "Big-Ass Cake" that's a chocolate lover's dream, Amelia's has the potential to become a destination restaurant — worth the drive to Bellbrook.
