Location & description

Located in Highland County in Hillsboro. The area is full of caves carved into it's dolomite limestone by glacial ice,ancients rivers and rain water. What remains is Rocky Fork Creek flowing through a diverse park filled with wildlife and natural wonders.

Camping

  • 230 campsites suitable for trailers and tents
  • Campground has showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities, dump station, camp store, campers' beach
  • Electric hookups are available at 130 sites
  • 20 sites offering full-service hookups
  • 40 premium lakeside non-electric campsites
  • 40 more non-electric sites in the heart of the campground.
  • Pet camping is permitted on designated sites
  • A launch ramp and tie-ups are provided for campers with boats
  • A separate group camp may be reserved by contacting the park office
  • The recreation barn also may be rented

Boating

  • Motors of unlimited horsepower are permitted
  • 16 boat launching ramps are located around the lake
  • Rental docks are available for frequent summer visitors
  • A designated area is available for boat camping

Marinas

  • 3 marinas are located around the lake, 1 marina provides fuel
  • All have launch ramps, docking space and parking
  • The East Shore Marina includes a modern restaurant
  • North Beach Marina has a snack bar
  • North Beach also offers boat rentals
Swimming
  • Two public beaches
  • Changing booths and bathhouse
  • Boat/swim area provided for boaters

Fishing & hunting

  • Bass, bluegill, crappie and muskellunge fishing
  • A wheelchair accessible fishing pier on the southeast side of the lake
  • Hunting is permitted in designated areas
  • A valid Ohio hunting and/or fishing license is required

Trails:

  • 1.5 mile hiking trail goes through cool woodlands, scenic gorges and moist wetlands
  • A short trail near the campground offers excellent birdwatching
  • 2 mile mountain bike trail available

Picnic areas

  • Wooded picninc areas located on the north and east shores

Area attractions

  • Fort Hill, the site of a complex of Hopewell Indian mounds
  • Serpent Mound

The Gem City Rollergirls are looking for a few good women to join their team. Basic skating ability and the willingness to learn one of the fastest-growing sports for women in the nation is all that's required. Check out an open practice and workshop for women ages 18 and older this Sunday, Nov. 23, at Kettering's Skateworld.
