Berlin has just opened a soup kitchen for dogs. They provide pets of the homeless and unemployed with a free meal.
I thought this was very interesting and definitely a sign that more and more people are realizing pets are becoming more a part of the family.
What do you think about this? Going too far? Is it a good thing that more areas should adopt?

So you’re having a bad day.
Everything you touch has gone wrong.
You need puppies.
Thepuppychannel.com can put you in a much better mood and make all your cares go away. The video of border collie puppies meeting a cat will make you laugh out loud.
The Web site is even weighing in on the choice of a dog for the new First Family.
The originators of the Web site say with these trying economic times, who couldn’t use a “puppy break?”

Dogs may have fur coats, but not all coats are created equally. And the smaller the dog, the more it needs help keeping warm as well.
Pedigree offers these tips to keep your dog warm.
- Go for short walks—no more than 5 or 10 minutes during extremely cold weather.
- If you own a short-hair breed, purchase a coat or sweater with a high collar or turtleneck and full belly coverage.
- Provide a warm bed away from drafts.
- Never leave your dog alone in a car in cold weather. A car can act as a refrigerator in the winter, holding in the cold.
- If you regularly groom your dog, leave his coat longer in the winter for warmth. When you bathe your dog, dry him completely before going out for a walk during cold-weather months.
- If your dog has been playing in the snow, check his feet. There may be ice or snowballs stuck between his toes that can be very cold and painful. Use a warm washcloth to quickly melt them.
Pedigree also warns to watch for signs of hypothermia in your dog and offers tips on what to do if you think your dog is hypothermic.

You may have see this on “The Early Show” on CBS today or seen it linked from AOL last night. It is just too cute. A puppy cam that is fixed on six Shiba Inu puppies. For anyone who likes Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet, this may become an addiction.
It is offline at times, but even when it is offline, there are several video clips you can watch. I found myself watching for about 15-20 minutes last night. One puppy was sleeping halfway under the bed and three others were in the crate playing. The sleeping one barely moved during all the ruckus.
It’s a hoot! Check it out.
You can also take a peek at some East German Shepherd puppies. Very cute as well, but they are younger, so are not as active yet as the Shiba Inu pups.

This weekend marks the first time for the Rescue-Dog-a-Rama, on Nov. 15-16 at Hara Arena in Trotwood, and sponsored by One More Chance Rescue and Adoption.
There will be 50-75 dog and puppy rescue organizations making hundreds of wonderful rescue dogs and puppies available for adoption. Their mission is “no dog or puppy left behind.”
There will be vendors, a dog house building contest with dog houses decorated by children from The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton — the dog houses will be auctioned on Sunday.
The times are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 15 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 16. Admission is $5; kids younger than 12 get in free.

Poor Barney.
First the first-dog loses his cushy home come January. Now, he’s being accused of biting a reporter.
OK, OK, there is video showing that he bit the reporter. But if you watch it, you can clearly see the reporter doing all the wrong things when approaching a strange dog. He looms over Barney and then thrusts a hand right at the poor dog.
Clearly, Barney doesn’t hang with the press so he didn’t know if the guy meant him harm or not. So, Barney did what a lot of dogs do - they react in fear and snap at the thing scaring them.
NEVER, never try to pet a strange dog.

If you are planning some holiday travel and you don’t want to leave the puppy at home, check out www.luxurypaw.com.
It’s the brainchild of owner Janine Franceschi, who travels with her Irish setter Beau seeking out pet-friendly hotels around the country.
And surprise!
They have found that pet owners don’t have to stay in dumps anymore just because they decided to bring along a four-footed buddy. Some of the best hotels now have pet amenities.
She also finds activities, shops, restaurants and resources in each city.
