McCain vs. Obama: the debate debate continues
Friday, October 10, 2008
The Oct. 7 debate in Nashville was supposed to be a Town Hall meeting with a free flow of questions. But Tom Brokaw controlled the format almost exclusively. Why? He was protecting his man Barack Obama, because this is not Obama's strong suit. Did you notice how many questions did not get asked? It was softball all the way.
Sen. John McCain did well in the first presidential debate, but in the second, the Town Hall style he likes, he looked like he is ready for a nursing home, not the Oval Office.
Don't worry, true conservatives. If Sen. Barack Obama wins, we have consolation knowing that the Clintons are not in the White House.
Once again, Ellen Belcher has demonstrated her flagrant liberal bias in her column criticizing Gov. Sarah Palin. Belcher and the Dayton Daily Democrat, like most of the main street media, are totally supporting Sen. Barack Obama.
These are serious and dangerous times. We need strong and intelligent leadership in this country. So if we elect Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin, we will have a country that goes nowhere instead of a bridge that goes nowhere.
Republicans, who are pleased with Gov. Sarah Palin's debate performance, remind me of parents who, expecting their kid to get an F on a final exam, are thrilled when the kid ends up getting a C minus. But, a C minus is still below average.
A teacher told me many years ago that a good salesperson never mentions a competitor's product. Sarah Palin is the worst salesperson in the world.
After watching the first debate, it struck me that the person I want to handle the problems this country faces is Barack Obama. He presented himself as calm, pointed and well-versed on foreign policy.
Of course the Obama events held during the day outnumber the amount of people at a McCain daytime event. McCain supporters are at work during the day.
I'll bet most of the people who are claiming Barack Obama will raise taxes and cause massive unemployment were the same people who voted George W. Bush into his second term. What does that say about their judgment?
Actor James Garner is the original "Maverick." Voting with George W. Bush 90 percent of the time makes John McCain a lemming, not a maverick.
