If you listen to country radio, you know there’s no hotter song right now than Randy Houser’s “How Country Feels.”

At last check, it was the No. 1 song on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart.

Houser, an up-and-coming Mississippi native, will play Kuss Auditorium at 8 p.m. March 9, the Clark State Performing Arts Center has announced.

“He’s on his way,” predicted Stuart Secttor, the center’s executive director.

Priced from $16 to $30, tickets for the show will go on sale in person at 10 a.m. Feb. 7, then online at pac.clarkstate.edu at noon.

Houser’s song made a bit of minor history last week when it was the first song played on New York City’s new country station — the Big Apple’s first country music station in 17 years. It’s the first single off his third album, which came out on Jan. 22.

Houser debuted in 2008 with the single “Anything Goes,” and scored a Top 10 country hit with “Boots On” in 2009.

This is the second time this month that Clark State has announced a concert by someone whose song is in heavy rotation on the radio.

Tickets went on sale last week — and sold out within a day — for “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips’ May 16 show at the 1,500-seat auditorium. The singer-songwriter has one of the most-played songs in the nation with “Home.”

“We are clean,” Secttor said. “And when we say we’ve gone clean, we don’t have a single ticket left.”

The Clark State box office received so many calls for Phillips tickets, Secttor said, that it slowed phone service to the entire college.

“It was a big day. It’s kind of special when it happens,” he said. “There are no slam dunks anymore. You’ve got to make it happen, and we did.”
