Post honors Jewish WWII veterans

By Breaking News Staff

DAYTON —

Veterans across the country are being honored this weekend for their service and dedication to protecting their country.

Members of Dayton’s Post 587 of the Jewish War Veterans, along with community volunteers, honored local veterans by placing flags in front of the graves of local veterans Sunday afternoon.

The Post also honored what they call “The Greatest Generation” by hosting a brunch for Jewish WWII veterans at the Boonshoft Museum earlier today. Members of the community were invited to dine alongside the veterans.

More than 100 participants attended the brunch today, with 17 Jewish WWII veterans in attendance.

There are 23 Jewish WWII veterans living in the Dayton area, said Steve Markman, commander of the Dayton Post for Jewish War Vets of U.S.
