DAYTON —

More than 700 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts spend the night under the stars and the stadium lights.

The Dayton Dragons hosted the 2nd Scout Overnight on Saturday. The Dragons hosted scouts from all across the Miami Valley enjoy a night of baseball at the Dragons game, and then invited the troops to camp out on the field for the night.

“We’ve got a great relationship with the Boy Scouts, and they came to use with this idea last year,” said Mike Vujea, director of group sales with the Dragons.

This year 725 Scouts stayed after the game to enjoy watching a movie and camping on the field.

“It’s good for the community and also good for the Boy Scouts,” said Jared Nye, a local Scoutmaster.

The Scouts watched “Shrek” and will enjoy breakfast this morning before packing up their camping gear to head back home.

“It’s not everyday you get to camp on a baseball field,” Nye added.

“This is a really cool event that we are very excited about,” Vujea said.
