This weekend’s your last chance to get 55 cent burger

By Amelia Robinson

Time is running out to celebrate the Whopper’s b-day with two quarters and a nickel.

Burger King restaurants — BK restaurants, if you are sassy — here and around the country are offering Whopper sandwiches for 55 cents when you buy any other Whopper sandwich — any combination of money will work.

The discount is in honor of the iconic sandwich’s 55th anniversary. The sale started yesterday and runs through Sunday.

Whoppers for grabs include the new Wisconsin White Cheddar Whopper and the limited-time-only Angry Whopper we told you about way back in 2009.

It is still ticked.

The burgers regularly cost between $4.49 and $2.19.

Interesting tidbit, roughly 95 percent of restaurants in the national chain are owned and operated by independent franchise owners.

Are you mad about the Whopper?
