On the evening of Feb. 28, three judges came together at the Trolley Stop to score a basketball-themed drink contest that was the first of its kind in Dayton.

The winning recipe chosen will be the featured signature drink offered to basketball crazed fans that come to Sunday’s NCAA First Four Festival in the Oregon District to celebrate the First Four NCAA contest kicking off in town next week.

The contest, sponsored by the Oregon District Association, was judged by Mike Schwarz, owner of Belmont Party Supply; Kristen Wicker of the Downtown Dayton Partnership, and yours truly.

Each drink was judged on taste, appearance and name.

Drinks with such monikers as Passion for the Game, Slam Dunk, Hang Time, The Dribble and Triple Threat each had something to like, but in the end there has to be a winner.

The Double Dribble was chosen by the judges from 13 entries to reign supreme.

The winning drink will be served up at the Oregon District’s 17 bars this Saturday.
