Kevin Pollak is living the dream.

The California native, performing at the Funny Bone Comedy Club in Beavercreek Friday and Saturday, occupies his time with stand-up gigs, movie roles, extended conversations with talented people on his online series “Kevin Pollak’s Chat Show” and plenty of opportunities to play poker. Not too shabby, right?

“I’ve basically avoided a real job for 30 years,” Pollak said, “Confucius said it first, ‘If you love your job, you’ll never work a day in your life.’ I’m almost never not working but I still don’t consider it a job.”

Pollak, who recently completed filming the family feature “Grace Unplugged,” will be seen next in the holiday film, ‘Saving Santa.” His first book, “How I slept My Way to the Middle,” will be out in early November.

“My stand-up act slowly became a series on anecdotes about the famous people I’ve worked with on movies,” he said. “A literary agent recently called me out of nowhere and said, ‘I think this is a book.’ It was actually a lot of fun.”

Pollak’s poker profile rose considerably in July when he became the highest ranking celebrity in the modern era at the World Series of Poker. With his stand-up dates, outside projects and more poker to play, he remains dedicated to his online series, which is available at iTunes and Hulu.com.

“That’s going strong,” he said. “We’re at 156 episodes and they average about two hours each. Everyone always says, ‘How are you going to monetize it?’ ‘Are you going to do a TV version?’ I don’t care about those things because I have a career in those worlds in other ways. I was never in a hurry to make more of it than it is, which is simply sitting down with people I’m fascinated by and talking to them for a couple of hours and sending it out for people to enjoy.”
