Grace Revival has been together less than two years, but the pop-country band from Clayton is already making a difference.

Band members Jenna Snow (vocals, guitar), Jung Oh (lead guitar, vocals), Christopher McCullough (bass) and Rob Reherman (drums), performing at Taffy’s in Eaton on Wednesday, Feb. 13, sat down recently to discuss Grace Revival’s two-prong focus on original music and charitable work.

In the beginning

Snow: “I’ve been singing since I was really little and playing guitar since I was in high school, but I had never sang with a band before. It was so weird at first playing guitar and having other people play with me. It threw me off so bad at first, but then after I got used to it I think it actually made me better at playing by myself, too, with timing and whatnot.”

Reherman: “We’ve been in band after band after band, and they’ve always seemed so plain. There wasn’t a big spark there until we started working with Jenna, and we were instantly moving right along. It was like turning on a light, basically. We played together just the three of us for about a year, and then Jung comes along and just brightens it up even more. It just flows so well.”

New blood

McCullough: “It’s interesting because we all have different backgrounds. I was more of a rock guy myself. Now we’re predominantly country, but we’re all over the place. With Jung’s ability to do those licks and incorporate other styles it’s more of a rock fusion.”

Oh: “I played in a screamo band a long time ago, and then I just gave up on music for a while. I still played guitar, but I just jammed by myself. It’s definitely a change of pace going from screamo to country, but it’s good music. I love it.”

Giving back

McCullough: “On Tuesday nights we give lessons to kids. We’ve been doing that a couple of years, and it’s been a great experience to be able to see them gain knowledge and grow.”

Reherman: “We have such a passion for music. When we can work with kids and help them grow and enjoy music, too. We’re all for that. It helps us grow, as well.”

McCullough: “We’re glad to be able to give lessons and do all the different benefits and charitable work we do. We want to take it to the next level for us, but we’d also like to be able to give back and take that to the next level, too.”
