Nerd comedians come in many forms but none occupy the headspace of Brian Posehn.

The six-foot seven-inch Californian — known for his love of heavy metal, comic books and horror movies — brings his unique act to The Funny Bone Comedy Club at The Greene in Beavercreek from Friday through Sunday, Sept. 7-9.

Posehn, who was a cast member on HBO’s cult sketch program “Mr. Show with Bob and David” and a co-star on Comedy Central’s “The Sarah Silverman Program,” took a few minutes last week to submit to a brief Q&A.

Q When can folks expect a new stand-up special from you?

A “I shot a special already but I’m not sure when it will be out. We’re editing that together now. I’ve done specials for Comedy Central and they ask you to go long and then they cut it down to fit the time, but then you don’t have any control of the flow or what makes the final cut. I’m happy with how those turned out, but this time I wanted to have the whole thing finished and edited beforehand.”

Q You perform in comedy clubs and rock venues. In fact, your last time in town you did a one-nighter at McGuffy’s House of Rock. How much does your act differ from location to location?

A “Not too much, really. I change it some when I do the rock clubs but really I just do my act.”

Q You’ve done some smaller scale comic book work with your writing partner Gerry Duggan, but the upcoming monthly run you two are doing on the relaunch of Marvel Comics’ “Deadpool” series is a high-profile gig. How much pressure is that?

A “It’s definitely a big deal but I think Gerry and I are suited for a character like that. It’s a book where you can do action and humor. We’re signed on for 18 issues so hopefully people like it.”
