Friday, July 11, 2008
Grammy and Latin Grammy-nominated Jaci Velasquez will perform at Island MetroPark, 101 E. Helena, for a free concert of Latin-spiced Christian music beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 19.
One of the world's most successful Christian/Latin/pop singers, Velasquez has sold more 3.5 million albums and appeared on the covers of more than 50 magazines.
The concert is sponsored by Five River MetroParks and 93.7 WFCJ-FM.
"She's kind of a crossover artist," said Nole, an on-air personality at WFCJ-FM. "She sings some of her songs in Spanish but all her music is spiritually-based."
Concert-goers should bring blankets or lawn chairs. Food venders will be on hand.
