Packing tips

Start with the outfit you'll wear on the plane. Light layers are wise; comfort and shape retention are key, so opt for fluid fabrics that feel good against the skin and hold their shape. It helps to choose shoes that slip off easily, as you will be asked to remove them when going through security. Make sure each piece can be repurposed during your trip.
Stick to a tight color palette. Choose one or two base colors that travel well. Then pick one or two accent shades for visual interest.
Extras
Limit your shoe choices. Shoes are often the most cumbersome to pack.
Think about your itinerary and check the weather channel. Lay out your outfits by day/activity, then edit out any pieces that are single purpose or nonessential. Make mixing a priority.
Extend your wardrobe options with well-chosen accessories that punctuate a sense of style. For example, a bold scarf can be used as a wrap, belt or sarong, and an adjustable belt with a buckle can add polish to jeans while transforming the look of a timeless black dress.
Add a few "what if" extras. For example, a stretchy cami in white or black, a pair of socks that can double as slippers if the hotel room is chilly, a light cardigan that doubles as a jacket.
Place shoes and heavier items at the bottom of your suitcase. Wrap the perimeter with belts.
If you plan to carry on a bag or tote, remember to follow airline security regulations. Liquids, gels and aerosols should be in 3-ounce or smaller containers and stored in a 1-quart plastic bag.
