Wow disgustedindayton you must really have a hard on for Chappys. It would seem to me that being an adult and talking to the manager or owner would have gotten a better response than denigrating them behind an anonymous email. The 50 or so times I have been to Chappys has always been a great experience. The food is wonderful and the service has always been outstanding.I can read the descriptions on the beer menu just fine to be able to tell a dark beer from a light one. Maybe you should just go back to KFC and Arbys and drink your bud lite from the comfort of your couch and plebian tastes.

I can say without prejudice that my experience at Chappys was the worst I have ever had in dayton. 1. Unprofessional Staff Walking through the door I was confronted with three staff members sitting on the waiting space benches acting like children. Also had a dingbat for a server that brought me a chipped glass that I nearly cut my mouth on and kept forgetting parts of my order when bringing it to the table. 2. Menus The menus consist of a large sheet of paper covered in loose laminate for the grill menu, and a clear cover folder like the type from Office Depot held the beer menu. Ratty, unprofessional, hard to read, insulting. Further, the choices of foods were very limited with most of the menu consisting of chicken dishes. We actually came to try the pork chops on a recommendation only to find that they did not serve those at all times, only on weekends. 3. Beer The descriptions in the menu of the beers did not differentiate between very dark, pungent beers and light beers. I myself cannot drink dark beer and only discovered I had ordered dark beer when it arrived at the table. I was unable to drink any of it and so I was forced to waste money. 4. Food The food was horrible as well. I ordered a salad, a bowl of chilli, a chicken breast sandwich with fries. The chilli was moderately tasty, but lukewarm when it arrived. The fries were disgusting, tasting burnt and yet uncooked at the same time. Also it tasted as though the cooking oil had not been changed in some time. The chicken sandwich was bland and undercooked (which can be dangerous) served on a lackluster grocery store bought bun, which the sever forgot to bring to the table. I had to ask for it. I did not finish the fries or the sandwich. The salad was an average, forgettable salad, but was among the only palatable items I received. 5. Atmosphere It was very dark in the restaurant. So dark that I found it difficult to read the menus. The booth benches were also uncomfortable, the backs of which seemed to slant inward at the top making for quite uncomfortable sitting. There were also televisions everywhere, all playing sports. Maybe chappys could sell a few TV's to buy higher quality product and staff. All in all it was the worst dining experience I have ever had in the Dayton area. I am 50 dollars poorer and still hungry after leaving most of my food unfinished. I can not add one single redeeming quality to this review for this establishment. I felt uncomfortable, angry, disgusted and cheated by the end of the meal. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone... ever.

After hearing many good things about Chappys I was thoroughly let down by the experience. I ordered the End of Summer beer sampler which included Sierra Nevada Anniversary, Bell's Two Hearted, Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA, and Stone Sublimely Self-righteous. The server set the beers out with card with the names and short descriptions calling each beer by name as he did so. Instead of the Stone beer, which is black, I was brought another much paler beer. When the server checked on our table we pointed out that I was not served the beer that was ordered. His response 'Oh yeah we ran out, most people don't know the difference but sometimes we get called out.' The server knowingly served me the wrong product, lied to me about what was being served and did not apologize. A complete failure of customer service. The food was more or less dull. The artichoke dip appetizer carried no flavor of its own and no matter how much you put on the crackers the only taste coming through was Ritz. The house salad was fresh. I ordered the 4 piece fried dinner with a side of cheesy mashed potatoes. The chicken was moist on the inside but did not deliver on flavor; the breading was too thin with no crunch. KFC has better fried chicken. The mashed potato side was the highlight of the whole meal. It was cheesy, creamy and all around delicious. Sadly the potatoes alone are not worth the trip to Chappys, and I would caution patrons to check to make sure you get what you order.
