This venerable Kettering restaurant hums along with attentive service; warm, butter-drizzled bread; house dressing that delivers a comparatively mild garlic note to a slightly sweet vinaigrette; and long-simmered tomato sauces. The Lasagna al Forno ($14.50) benefits from an abundance of rich cheeses, while the Chicken Piccata $(17.95) is a generous serving of seasoned and floured chicken fillets surrounded by a zesty lemon sauce and served with angel-hair pasta. Look for dishes with the house-made Italian sausage, such as the rigatoni with sausage at lunch ($6.95).

This has been mine and my girlfriends favorite restaurant for a few years. The food is great and so is the atmosphere. I called on them for help with a surprise proposal last week and they came through. Everything worked out as planned thanks to the great staff!

Mama knows best

Mama DiSalvo's had the very best Italian food and atmosphere I have yet experienced. I've managed a few restaurants and I love to cook, so when I go out to eat I want to be served an entree that I couldn't cook better myself. My wife and I were thoroughly impressed with the Calamari appetizer which was not chewy and the batter had a great depth of flavor. My wife enjoyed the Vegetarian Lasagna and I had the Gnocchi with a sausage and a meatball (which were decent sized). We recommend both, but especially the appetizer. The use of mirrors gave the illusion of space while maintaining a comfort-filled atmosphere. It was a date night well spent.

Fantastic Italian food. My first three months in Dayton I gained 7 pounds thanks to the DiSalvo family!
