Democrats

Summer in the City

Basics: Hosts regularly scheduled summer events for students interning in the Dayton region. What they do: Eat out, hang out, go to Dragons games, participate in golf tournaments, meet at bars, visit Dayton area destinations.

Montgomery County Democratic Party

The scoop: Meets the 4th Thursday of every month at Democratic Headquarters, 131 S. Wilkinson Street, Dayton, 222-4007. The meetings aren't "real exciting," says one Dem. Best to come to, or volunteer for, a specific event or fundraiser.

What can you do: Get a yard sign for yourself or volunteer to put up

yard signs for others, distribute literature for candidates, contribute

to the Web site, manage or participate in running candidates' campaigns,

help get out the vote, register voters, make calls on behalf of candidates.

Young Democrats:

The scoop: You're supposed to be 18-35, but anybody can join.

Dues: $10/year but "we don't' make a big deal about collecting." No set

meeting time. Contact Nolan Thomas, president, 643-0945. They're most

active in presidential campaign years. Often work with UD Dems and Wright State Dems. Most recent event: Pizza party to watch Young Dems thump Young Republicans at the Kids Voting High Q contest that was aired on WHIO-TV.

Basics: Meet the first Monday of every month at Democratic Headquarters, 131 S. Wilkinson Street, Dayton, 222-4007 Grew out of Women for Kerry supporters, but has moved on (no pun intended) and also includes men.
