Restaurant poised to reopen after fire

MIAMI TWP., Montgomery County — Marion's Piazza will reopen at 8991 Kingsridge Drive near the Dayton Mall on Tuesday morning, May 13, more than 18 months after fire destroyed the existing restaurant.
"We're glad to be back," said Roger Glass, president and CEO of the Dayton-based restaurant chain. "We've gotten many calls from customers who told us they missed us."

The rebuilt restaurant, with about 10,500 square feet, has a slightly different look to the exterior and features two skylights and three dining rooms. It will be a prototype for Marion's in future construction, Glass said.
"You'll know you're in a Marion's Piazza, but it will have a new look," he said.
The restaurant seats 425 — about 100 more than the previous facility — and has a separate banquet room that seats 75, Glass said. The restaurant employs 50, up from 35 when the previous restaurant burned on Dec. 4, 2006.
The intensity of the fire and the damage it caused extended the time needed for an investigation, which concluded it was an electrical fire, Glass said.
With the reopening, Marion's has seven restaurants in the Dayton area. The Kingsridge restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week. The phone number is (937) 435-3300.
