The worldwide Sudoku craze appears to be fading if electronic versions of the number-logic game are any indication. Since 2005, I've seen dozens of Sudoku games for consoles, handhelds, computers and cell phones. On the schedule for 2008 are ... none. Wii Zapper; 'Medal of Honor Heroes 2'; 'Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles'
Most gamers who grew up in the 1980s have fond memories of "Duck Hunt," one of the games that came with the Nintendo Entertainment System. Your controller was a plastic gun, the Zapper, that you used to shoot on-screen ducks; if you missed, your hunting dog would snicker. Will 2008 top '07 for gamers? Maybe with these titles
Most critics agree that 2007 was the best year ever for video gamers. The question now: Can 2008 top it? I've pored over the schedules of all the major game publishers to assemble this list of 2008's most intriguing games. I've only seen previews, so I can't guarantee they'll all be good, and a few will inevitably be bumped back to 2009 (or bumped off entirely). But the games I'm psyched about:

The King of Pop will live again on the big screen at 11 p.m. Friday, July 3, during a special tribute at The Little Art Theatre in Yellow Springs. The nearly two-hour event celebrating Michael Jackson's music video hits is free (donations welcome). More than a dozen videos, including uncut versions of "Thriller," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel." "Smooth Criminal," and the uncensored version of "Black or White" will be showcased. More »

Spinoza's Gourmet Pizza & Salads inside the Mall at Fairfield Commons is an eatery well worth checking out — "gourmet" ingredients and all. The restaurant is owned by the former co-owner of Pacchia restaurant in Dayton, Glen Brailey. The restaurant's attention to detail shows up on the plate, in "Signature Pizzas" that hit more often than they miss. More »

Best locally is City of Dayton on July 3. But you need to be in a location that is a bit elevated because there is a part that is low and hard to see but I applaud the effort. The best I have ever seen has to be Chicago’s at the Taste of Chicago. Shot off Navy Pier WOW!!! The show was spectacular but the traffic leaving the area was a horrific nightmare.

Curious, Erika, did you get a lot of the fallout ashes and such all over you at last year’s riverscape fireworks? I was at the main stage for CityFolk and I sure did. Maybe it is because, as you said, I was too close.
Kettering’s fireworks are great, as are the ones at King’s island. We leave the park and find a place within distance to stop and watch to avoid all the traffic leaving.

Last year Fourth of July celebration at Riverscape was ok. The fireworks were to close and then by the end of the show you couldn’t see the display because of the smoke, maybe I was to close.

I’m not all that big a fan of any of the local fireworks displays because they all tend to ‘bunch up’ the fireworks into a single spot in the sky.
I suspect it’s because either the people who create them, don’t watch them, or rules require space around them on the ground, and there isn’t that much space around here, but whatever it is, it’s too bad.
When you have two, three or more fireworks explode in the same spot, it dilutes them all.
