Dig in: Starving students have several dining options on campusBy COLLEEN MARTIN, Cox East TexasThere are many dining options available to students on the SFA campus. Meal plans have more flexibility, and all dining locations accept Jack Bucks and other methods of payment. East College Marketplace offers a variety of dining options to students.
PanGeo's offers pasta dishes ordered and prepared right before the student's eyes as they wait. The deli offers a variety of hot and cold sandwiches. Heart Healthy serves dishes for those who may desire meals with less sodium or fats, such as vegetable lasagna or steamed rice. Southern Kitchen serves a daily choice of blue plate meals that rotate every meal. The grill offers a variety of hamburgers, patty melts, grilled cheese french fires and other similar foods. Pizza Hut Express is located across the street from Steen Hall, next to East College Marketplace. Students may use their meal plan from 7 p.m. to midnight to get personal pizza or bread sticks. Pizza Hut Express is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday. It closes at 3 p.m. on Friday and, opens again from 7 p.m. to midnight on Sunday. Students may use their meal plans at Pizza Hut Express. Grand Central Station in the University Center offers traditional comfort foods for lunch and dinner and breakfast to order in the mornings. Additional options include Treat Yourself Right, offering heart-healthy foods, a pizza/pasta station, a salad bar and a dessert station. The Hungry Jack Inn is located in the University Center, and offers a deli, which serves hot and cold sandwiches; Grill Works, which serves hamburgers, hot dogs and patty melts; Tortilla Fresca, which serves Mexican food and Changing Scenes, which serves a different meal every day. Changing Scenes offers everything from fried catfish and shrimp to barbecue to Chinese food. Chick-fil-A has moved to the Hungry Jack Inn. Students can use their meal plans from 7 p.m. to midnight. They also accept cash and checks. Hours are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday. Sunday, it opens from 7 p.m. to midnight. The Barnes and Noble Cafe is housed in the University Center bookstore. It offers a full range of coffee, along with sandwiches, cookies and pastries. Jesse Nelson, store manager, said the cafe will be trying some new menu items soon, such as chicken quesadilla wraps, pizza wraps, fresh and seasonal fruit, salads, teas and cold coffee drinks. "We offer weekly specials and are adding a sandwich, chips and a drink meal soon," Nelson said. "The cafe has a full seating section, and accepts cash, checks, debit/credit cards and Jack Bucks." The Info Junction is located in the Steen Library. It serves Starbucks coffee, drinks, sandwiches, soup, bagels, chips, cookies and other snacks. Hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Sunday, but hours are subject to change.
