Today is ‘nouveau rose’ day at both Arrow Wine stores
This, in my opinion, is a FABulous idea: Arrow Wine & Spirits is inviting wine lovers to what it calls its “Inaugural Rose Day” to be held all day today (until 8 p.m.), Thursday May 26, at both the Far Hills Avenue store in Kettering and the Lyons Road store in Washington Twp.
The concept is similar to what Arrow and many other wine shops do during Nouveau Beaujolais Day the third Thursday in November, when the first wine of the vintage is released. The folks at Arrow remind us that dry rose wines are “perfect for spring and summer” (as if we need to be reminded!) and promise they’ll be offering a wide variety of roses from around the world. Selection varies by store.
Based on the handful of roses I’ve tasted from France and Italy in the last couple of months during the drop-in tastings around town, 2010 was a fantastic vintage for roses. Arrow is on to something here. Do you think maybe this idea will grow into the international juggernaut Nouveau Beaujolais Day became? Hmmmm.
