Wine bar under new ownership

BELLBROOK — Cuvee Wine Bar & Cellar is under new ownership.

Chris Cavender, who was named executive chef at Jay’s Restaurant in March, has sold the wine bar and retail shop at 4457 W. Franklin St. (Ohio 725 at Wilmington Pike) to Lisa Corral and her daughters Sarah Corral and Natalie Corral, all of Sugarcreek Twp.

“We knew it was available, and I’ve always wanted to do something like this,” Lisa Corral said Saturday afternoon, June 5, between pouring samples for customers at the wine bar. “The timing was right, and everything fell into place.”

Sarah, 24, recently graduated from Notre Dame University with a master’s in business administration, and Natalie, 22, holds a marketing degree from Miami University. Both are Bellbrook High School graduates.

The new owners have extended Cuvee’s hours and will tweak the food menu, but said they don’t plan any immediate major changes. The wine bar is now open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and noon to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. “But if everyone wants to hang out longer, we won’t kick you out,” the new owners said in an email to customers.

Lisa Corral has worked for IBM and as a Realtor, but said, “I’ve always enjoyed entertaining and have always wanted a job that didn’t feel like a job. I know we still have a lot to learn.”

Corral said long-time Cuvee employee Cynthia Pratt will stay on as a wine consultant and has been instrumental in the ownership transition, and she said several Cuvee customers also have helped the wine bar’s new owners.

Daughter Natalie said, “So far, we’re having fun.”
