Wine label nymph a tad too naked for Alabama regulators

Check out this USAToday.com story entitled “Alabama liquor agency says no to nude nymph on wine label”.

And of course, as a public service, you can view the label itself on this cyclesgladiator.com page.

I’ve seen the label before, probably on local wine shelves, and didn’t give it a second thought. Silly me.

Isn’t it refreshing to find a state other than Ohio serving as the laughingstock of the nation when it comes to prudish, quasi-wacko behavior?

So is it “offensive,” or is it “immodest,” or both?

Obviously a problem if Alabama allows 12 year olds to buy bottles of wine. But if only 21 and above (or even 18 and above) can buy wine, what’s the problem. Those folks, and even younger ones, can see much more on the internet without much effort (and probably on TV and in their local newspaper, too).

Here is one from the Michigan Board of Alcohol. Larry Mawby who owns Mayby Vineyards on Leelanau Pennsula and makes some nice sparklings wanted to name one of his wines Sechs pronounced Sex. The board said no way so he reapplied for the name and spelled it SEX and they appoved it. So now he sells SEX.

well, it’s what happens if you don’t keep an eye on unsupervised “law-makers”; they really DON’T have anything else to do but to make up new laws and they’ll always go for the easy ones.

The St. Paulie girl could be in big trouble in Alabama. So might Capt. Morgan cause “Bama don’t want no gay lookin’ men in bars”

unbelievable. You would think a legislator…any legislator..anywhere on earth…would have more important things to consider.
