Wine rebate offer expires this week
Mail-in rebate offers involving wine purchases haven’t been around all that long in Ohio, but this one seems fairly generous: Buy six bottles of Banrock Station wines, mix or match — they’re currently on sale for $4.99 a bottle, so that half-case will cost you about $30 — and you can take advantage of a $15 mail-in rebate, bringing the ultimate cost of each bottle to $2.49 ($14.94 for six bottles, before taxes).
Ready for the fine print?
First, you have to buy the wine before April 30 — this Thursday. You also have to get your hands on one of the tiny, bottle-neck-hanger rebate forms (more on that in a moment), and you must mail in the rebate materials before May 15. A $15 check will come in six to eight weeks.
There’s no internet link to this rebate form, to my knowledge (I suspect some states don’t allow such rebates for wine; Ohio did not allow it until a couple of years ago). Brian Linnean of the Wine Gallery & Cafe was passing the rebate forms out and alerted me to the deal while he was working at his satellite wine shop/booth at the Second Street Market Saturday morning, although the deal is not exclusive to his shops.
I haven’t tried Banrock Station’s wines — which hail from Australia — lately, and rebate offers can be a pain in the patootie, but at $2.50 a bottle, in these tough times … it’s an offer worth passing along.

Hard to find a better value in red wine at $4.99, and even better with the $16.00/6 bottle rebate, and then throw in the 10% case discount. Tasted the Shiraz Cab saturday at Arrow and it was a hit. The Shiraz is great too. There is a $3.00 per bottle rebate on a one bottle purchase valid until 2-28-10.
