Am I the last person to hear of this new reality series called ‘The Wine Makers’?
I came across a press release this morning entitled “Cotes du Rhone Announces Sponsorship of PBS Reality Series, ‘The Wine Makers’” on the wine-news web site WineBusiness.com.
And my question is: Has anyone else heard of this reality TV series? And it’s from PBS??

If I was still covering tv programming, you would have been in the loop.

You heard about it; it’s just that it was so long ago, between the announced idea, the filming and the release, that you’ve probably forgotten about it. Plus, I’m guessing that they needed to find a sponsor to get this on the TV.

Never heard of it. There was a show about a year ago called “The Wrath Of Grapes”. It was a series made by the guys who produced American Idol, and told about their adventures (and mis-adventures) when they bought a vineyard and winery. Wasn’t too bad.

It’s “Survivor” with grapes rather than iguana on a stick. The first season was filmed during the 2007 harvest, but hasn’t been released yet. You can watch some of highlights of the show on www.winemakerstv.net.Independantly produced, but scheduled to air on PBS. Interesting concept, but probably a very limited viewing audience.
