Food takes center stage at Taste of Miami Valley Sept. 16-17
DAYTON — The event boasts multiple forms of entertainment, but food is the main attraction at the Miami Valley Restaurant Association’s 7th Annual Taste of Miami Valley, to be held from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 and 17, at RiverScape MetroPark in downtown Dayton.
About 30 Dayton-area restaurants have signed up to serve their specialties during the two-day event, according to Amy Zahora, the restaurant association’s executive director. Admission to Taste of Miami Valley is free, but the food samples are not: attendees purchase food tickets for $3 each. The most up-to-date list of participating restaurants and what they’ll be serving is available online at www.tasteofmiamivalley.org. Among the restaurants joining the Taste of Miami Valley lineup for the first time this year are Mamma Disalvo’s, Company 7 BBQ, Mr. Lee’s fine Dining, Paradise Key, and Sai Bai, according to Zahora.
Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase. A wine event from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday will benefit the United Rehabilitation Services of Dayton and the Miami Valley Restaurant Association Scholarship Fund. An ice sculptor will demonstrate the craft at 7 p.m. each night, and the Ben-Gal Cheerleaders will be on hand from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday signing autographs.
The restaurant association has added a second stage, so live music will be available on two stages. Bands scheduled to appear include Spungewurthy, The Fabulous Debonte Brothers, Hey There Morgan and Shadowlife.
Between bites, attendees can peruse displays and consider the home-improvement services from home-improvement specialsts and vendors at the event’s 2nd annual home show. And attendees can vote for their favorite dishes in a “People’s Choice Best of Taste” while also entering for a chance to win restaurant gift certificates each day.
