A more casual approach to Valentine’s Day dining
In addition to this updated list of restaurants offering special Valentine’s weekend specials, we also last week asked for suggestions of restaurants geared more toward a “last-minute” guide to Valentine’s Day weekend dining — places slightly more casual and less likely to fill up with reservations, but which are still offering some type of special Valentine’s Day (or Valentine’s weekend) menu or specials. Here in this story scheduled to run in the Dayton Daily News Go section on Friday, Feb. 11, are the restaurants and sports bars you told us about.
Restaurant owners and managers have a soft spot in their hearts for Valentine’s Day — and not only because it’s the second-most-popular day for folks to dine out (Mother’s Day is tops).
“Valentine’s Day always signifies an important benchmark for restaurants,” said Jarrod Clabaugh, director of communications for the Ohio Restaurant Association. “Once the holidays are over, restaurants are revitalized by the customers that they get to serve on Valentine’s Day. Diners are no longer harried by the stresses that they traditionally feel during the holiday season so they are more apt to treasure the experience of a slow-paced, relaxing dinner with the one they love. Additionally, restaurateurs and their staff appreciate being a part of so many special occasions, like marriage proposals and anniversaries, that can often overlap with the celebration of Valentine’s Day.”
