Restaurants offering free food to veterans tomorrow

A handful of restaurants announced they’ll be offering free menu items to veterans tomorrow (11-11-10) in honor of the Veterans Day holiday.

The Texas Roadhouse in Fairborn (937-426-7422) and the Texas Roadhouse in Huber Heights (937-233-7427) are offering an “Early Dine” entree for free to “all veterans or active military who show up in uniform (or with military identification).” The times of the offer are staggered: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fairborn restaurant at 2600 Colonel Glenn Highway, and from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Huber Heights restaurant at 5611 Merily Way. Call the restaurants for further details.

Also, all Tim Hortons restaurants are offering a free donut Thursday to veterans who have a veteran’s identification or arrive in uniform. The Dublin, Ohio-based chain offers a “Star Spangled Donut” that it thinks would be appropriate for the occasion.

At least one restaurant chain is offering a free-dinner promotion, not on Veterans Day itself, but on the following Monday, Nov. 15. Golden Corral’s “Military Appreciation Monday” will offer veterans a free dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.

Other emails I’ve received have suggested Little Caesars Pizza is offering a free “Crazy Combo” to all those whom have a Military ID, and that Outback Steakhouse in offering its “Bloomin’ Onion” free to all veterans, both on Thursday. I haven’t been able to confirm those offers, so as with any restaurant promotions, it’s always a good idea to call the restaurant ahead to make sure it’s participating, and whether there are any exclusions or any “fine print” you need to know before taking advantage of the offer. A phone call can avoid disappointment.

If you know of other restaurants offering special Veterans Day promotion tomorrow, please post a comment and let readers know about it.

Should you want to try Applebee’s, call them first. NOT all Applebee’s are taking part in this. Company owned stores YES, Franchise stores Do Not have to take part in it. So call before going to that local Applebee’s. Thanks for the correction on McCormicks and S. I knew it was Sunday as I went there with my family, Dad a WW 2 Vet and Son a Iraq -Afghanistan vet. Nice to see they gave us the discount. Some places ask for Proof of Military service, Seeing How I have not used the VA for any thing to date nor my Dad, they had to take our word we served.. Sad at that. I plan on stopping at the DMV with my DD 214 and having Veterans put on my drivers Lic.

McCormick & Schmick’s free meal was last Sunday, so it’s over. I just got an email from Red Robin - free appetizer with purchase of an entree.

Don’t forget about Golden Corral. They always feed veterans on Veteran’s Day. There is always a line, but, it is a great way to spend time around other vets. And, because they are busy, if you don’t need a full table, they will seat you with someone else. Then, you can meet and socialize with other veterans.
