‘Fresco’ upscale carryout opens today in Kettering

KETTERING — The new upscale carryout restaurant called Fresco will open today at 3141 Far Hills Ave. in the Fountain Square center.

“We’re starting relatively slow, by design,” Fresco owner Jenn DiSanto said this morning, Oct. 20, 90 minutes before the opening. Hours today and the rest of the week are 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The weekdays-only carryout is an offshoot of DiSanto’s catering operation, which is now also called Fresco. DiSanto operated a catering and personal-chef business called The Easy Way Out and led several cooking sessions at the Dorothy Lane Market School of Cooking since moving to Dayton in 2007.

Fresco will offer some limited seating, “but the focus is not on running a restaurant — it’s on carry-out meals to go,” DiSanto said. At Fresco, customers can drop in and order lunch or dinner, order ahead for pickup, or purchase prepared items from a deli case, DiSanto said. Click here for the current carryout menu from today through next Friday, Oct. 29. Fresco will add more prepared items to its deli case next week, DiSanto said.

DiSanto stressed that Fresco is “not trying to be everything to everybody,” but hopes to provide customers with a dining alternative of a high-quality carryout meal. “We want to allow that family that is busy to still eat a great meal at home, around their own table,” DiSanto said.

Fresco’s Fountain Square location formerly housed a Pizza Hut for more than 20 years before the carryout-only location closed in January 2010.
