The two organizations are teaming up to present a professional-enrichment event called “Dine Like a Diplomat” on Nov. 16. The two etiquette experts overseeing the event will be Pamela Eyring, president and director of The Protocol School of Washington, and Leah Hawthorn, director of Advanced Business Image & Etiquette in Dayton.
Attendees of Dine Like a Diplomat “will learn helpful social skills such as appropriate greetings, the importance of responding to invitations in a timely manner, appropriate dress for various events, navigating the reception line, and the roles of the host and guest of honor,” according to a news release from Sinclair and YWCA Dayton. “In addition, participants will learn how to host a table, American and Continental styles of dining, the map of a formal place setting, and the ‘rest and finish’ positions of the dinner napkin.”
Eyring has presented seminars and briefings to government officials, Fortune 500 business executives, college officials and others. She serves as “Biz Etiquette” columnist for the Washington Business Journal. Hawthorn is a certified business image and business etiquette coach. master trainer for The Protocol School of Washington and a training facilitator for the Defense Acquisition University Mid-West Region.
