‘Coffee shop on wheels’ opens near Ohio 725
Buckeye Moon Coffee Company — a mobile coffee shop that also sells smoothies, pastries and other items — has opened at 802 Watertower Lane in the parking lot of the Imperial Square Shopping Center near Alex Road and Ohio 725 in West Carrollton.
But don’t look for it parked there on weekends: Buckeye’s president, Steve Neal, takes advantage of the “mobile” aspect of his new venture and takes his coffee shop to events such as soccer tournaments and wedding receptions.
“Wherever people gather, we can go,” Neal said. “We’re your favorite coffee shop, on wheels.”
The 14-by-8 1/2-foot trailer has an extensive menu that includes coffee, espresso, frappes, cappuccino, hot spiced cider, iced tea, hot tea and other beverages. And it serves pastries from Dorothy Lane Market, Neal said.
Neal, who lives in Miamisburg, worked in the restaurant industry, including Bob Evans Restaurants and Sonic, for nearly 30 years.
“But I’ve been wanting to do something like this for 20 years, and my wife finally tole me, ‘Do it or be quiet,’” Neal said.
His goal is to someday open a coffee shop in a fixed location — but to keep the trailer for special events, he said.
The Buckeye Moon Coffee Company is open from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at its West Carrollton location, and may add Saturday hours later this year after soccer season ends, Neal said. For more information, call (937) 369-6061.
