BBQ restaurant starts serving today on WPAFB Area B
The Englewood BBQ restaurant Oinkadoodlemoo opened a second location today, April 1, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
The restaurant’s “mobile unit” trailer is located in Area B across from the Presidential Hangar next to Sally’s Kitchen Mobile Unit, according to Steven Meyer, co-owner of Oinkadoodlemoo.
“We just opened about six minutes ago,” Meyer said in a phone interview shortly after 10:30 a.m.
“In all this doom and gloom about the Dayton region and the economy, people don’t realize that the base is growing and growing,” Meyer said. “It has its own economy.”
The new location’s hours this week will be 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., although Meyer said those hours will expand in the coming weeks to 4 p.m. so employees heading home from work in the late afternoon can order BBQ and other menu items for “to-go” dinners, Meyer said.
The restaurant has a six-month contract to serve at the new WPAFB location, but Meyer said he envisions the restaurant being a year-round endeavor that could include delivery to WPAFB office buildings in fall and winter.
The main Oinkadoodlemoo restaurant opened in fall 2009 at 322 Union Road in Englewood.

Love, love, love Oinkadoodlemoo! Just having a place that serves burnt ends is fantastic, let alone how delicious everything on their menu is! Glad their spreading their delicious meaty gospel around Dayton.

Perhaps I should have added that I visited this restaurant at about 7pm on a week night. One might believe there are ribs yet to be had at THAT time… But,the brisket was good.

I loved Oinadoodlemoos. I have only ate there once but they treated my wife and 2 kids and I great. It isn’t a good sit down and eat place but a good carryout. They were out of ribs when I ate there also do to them underestimating costumers do to the snow storm. I am wanting to bring their ribs home but I don’t know how they would be after the drive home to Huber.

I’ve been to the Englewood location several times and I have been very happy with the food each and every time. Also, I can’t say that I’ve ever noticed any loud music being played. As far as running out of ribs, I can’t believe Doc that you’ve never been at a restaurant that has run out of a menu item before. The guys that run the business seem very nice and eager to please their customers. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes BBQ.

The “how can an X place run out of X” argument has always struck me as a bit ridiculous. It isn’t as though, by virtue of being a BBQ joint, the restaurant is issued a replicator capable of instantly cranking out sides of ribs. The owner has to gauge demand for the product and cook just enough of it. If too little is made, customers walk away unsatisfied (and grouse about it online). If too much is prepared, food goes to waste and costs skyrocket. Obviously, on the day you went, they misjudged what demand would be like; it happens now and then.

Right, because ribs smoke instantly. It’s not like it takes 6-8 hours to cook them. Places run out of stuff sometimes.

“poop happens”, ‘eh? Uh-huh. Tell you what. Why don’t you throw some more ribs in your smoker so it doesn’t happen again. And TURN DOWN the music. Okay?

How nice. Be advised my first trip to their Englewood location was less than satisfying. Wanted ribs and they were “out”. Not sure how a rib joint can “run out” of ribs, but they did. They also had rather loud (IMO), Christain music playing. While there’s nothing wrong with that per say, it’s NOT appropriate in a restaurant setting. Their soda was flat, too. Other than all that, it was so-so.
