People pretending to collect for charity

A group of people are going door-to-door pretending to be collecting donations for Artemis Center, which helps victims of domestic violence.

The Artemis Center does not do any door-to-door fundraising or set up outside of businesses and ask for donations, said Patti Schwarztrauber, executive director.

“These practices are not consistent with our fundraising ethics,” she said.

Artemis Center has been serving local victims of domestic violence for 25 years. As a well-established, responsible non-profit agency, Artemis Center does not and will not solicit funds in this manner.

If you suspect an individual in your area is improperly collecting donations, call the Artemis Center at (937) 461-5091. Report the date and location where the solicitation took place.
