How are you paying for college?

College is expensive and sometimes a plain old 9-5 job isn’t going to cover tuition costs.

Some students are starting their own small businesses to help pay for college.

If you are one of these entrepreneurs, Kim Margolis wants to talk to you. Call 225-2216 or email KMargolis@coxohio.com

I am borrowing money for college. I hope I can finish in 4-5 years: the cost is huge and will be a liability for some time to come.

A combo of loans, grants and the VA. Would love to hear the jobs that my fellow students are doing. May help all of us to reach our goals in a more timely manner.

I am 18 and entering college in the fall. Dad is funding my education. He put away money on a weekly basis from my birth. My college education is paid for. Dad works an hourly wage, is not a “Captain of Industry”. I’m sure someone reading this will be able to offer some negative comment concerning my schooling being paid for. After you do, do you realize your offspring will be working for me after I graduate?

Congrats By Daddy’s money. I commend your father. My parents also chose to spend their money for our education and I am paying for my two children’s education right now. Education is a priority in my family. I would rather spend my money on education than alcohol, cigarettes, and fancy cars.

I am unemployed at the time and talking advantage of what grants I can get. But I am quickly sinking in debt with student loans to pay the rest of mine. ByDaddy’sMoney, appreciate what your parents are doing for you and keep at it. My dad paid for my college 10 years ago when I tried it and I was more interested in partying to the point I flunked out and my dad refuses to help now. I am trying to find other ways to pay for it now, if anyone has ideas on how or can offer insight on how to start a business up with no money I would like to hear how.

flyer from birth & FallingInDebt: Thanks for your comments. Dad (and Mom) saved for my future. They scrimped & saved and gave up alot of “creature comforts” they would have enjoyed. Also, If I blow it, flunk out, that’s it…for real. He told me he’ll use the college money to buy a bass boat attached to a new pick up truck, (owns neither), then take Mom to Hawaii for two months. He means it. I am instructed by Dad to get a part time job at school for my (as he calls it) “walk around money”. Fun time money will not come from tuition money. Both my parents have always been hard core on responsibility, and it hasn’t hurt me any. It’ll pay off.

Having attended a traditional college, UC and an online school, I can say both are equally expensive. Online classes cost me 4,000 bucks four times a year! The student loans are piling up, and my online business isn’t bringing in the money. I had my first year at UC paid for, that was upwards of 20,000 dollars with tuition, books, meals, lodgings, car parking. Be thankful you have someone to help you along, while my IQ is 130, I might not get back into school for along time.
