Retailers announce store closings

Wallet Pop, probably the best all-around consumer site, had a roundup today, March 31, on many well-known retailers that announced they were closing stores, slowing expansion or closing up shop altogether.

Among them were Foot Locker (which will close 106 more stores — it closed 179 in 2009), Home Depot (which is closing three pilot stores, but remains the biggest home improvement store) and Blockbuster (which said it will close more than 500 stores.)

Also on Wallet Pop came the reminder that time is running out to take advantage of the first-time homebuyer’s tax credit.

The deadline is April 30 to participate in that program. See the Wallet Pop site for more details.

On a side note, the reason the blog is light this week is because I am on vacation.

Have a good rest of the week!
