Sears pumped up and ready for Cash for Appliances
The Cash for Appliances program starts Friday, March 26, in Ohio.
For many, implementing this new program has been an education to many — even the governing bodies.
But one retailer that has been trying to get ahead of the ball for this program is Sears.
Vickie McClary, the store manager of the Dayton Mall Sears, said the company has had its associates in meetings for a month to prepare themselves for how to handle the program and how best to serve customers.
The store is planning to have extra associates on hand Friday through Sunday, and will have the facilities to help people reserve a rebate and fill out all the paperwork necessary to receive their rebates.
“Basically, they’ll be able to just drop (their paperwork) in the mailbox on the way out,” McClary said.
The store also will be open early, at 6 a.m., to give customers a jump on the process.
“We will open even before the program begins,” she said, adding that the program starts at 8 a.m. “But this way, people can have the appliance they want picked out and be ready.”
She added that there already has been a great demand concerning the program, and that many people have already selected the appliance they plan to buy.
“Customers are recognizing that this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” McClary said, “People can get money from the government and get an appliance that will save them money every day.”
Sears is selling appliances for 15 percent off, and McClary said the company is offering another 10 percent off on Friday and Saturday for customers using their Sears cards.
Of course, Sears is just one of many retailers participating in the program, and many may be able to help customers complete their paperwork.
Logan Master Appliance in Kettering and Lowe’s locations have expressed the desire to help as well.
