Some movie theater ticket prices expected to go up
According to a report from Barron’s and other sources, it is expected that due to the heightened demand so far this year, movie tickets are expected to become even more expensive — starting Friday, March 26.
Media analyst Richard Greenfield said 2010 box office receipts are up nearly 10 percent this year.
Wallet Pop added that, although no official announcement has been made, theaters owned by Regal Entertainment Group, Cinemark Holdings and AMC Entertainment are upping prices by as much as 26 percent starting Friday nationwide, mainly for 3-D offerings such as “Alice in Wonderland.”
However, according to the Cinema De Lux and tickets priced for area Showcase Cinemas at MovieTickets.com, the price hikes might not affect us here in the Miami Valley — at least for now.
Cinema De Lux and Showcase Cinemas are owned by National Amusements.

For 2 of us to go to the movie, get some popcorn and a soda, the cost is about $40. I think instead we will have a nice dinner and grab a dvd from RedBox!

I’d rather watch paint dry than pay more than i have for movie ticket. The last time I went to a movie, small drink and a pack of liquorish was $7,000.00. I can’t do it anymore - which is what i told my wife after 8 months of clinical sex with no luck.

The only theatre owned by National Amusements in the tri-state which is still a Showcase is the one in Springdale. The rest were sold to Rave Motion Pictures and are expected to be converted to such by the end of March. Just an FYI.
