Help save government $1.5 billion with form
In this blog, we talk all about saving money. But this post notes a way you can save the country money — and a lot of it.
According to a story by CNN Money on Monday, March 15, by filling out your Census form, that you may already have received in the mail, you could help save the government up to $1.5 billion.
By filling out and sending in your form, you save the money it would take to pay Census takers to come to your home and get the information from you that way.
In the Dayton area, local groups have been helping spread the word about the importance of the Census as well.
That push notes that the Census helps determine how more than $400 billion in federal funding will be allocated to U.S. communities.
The 2010 form has 10 questions and should take only 10 minutes to complete, the bureau said.
It is a small amount of time to save a lot of people a whole lot of money.

The govt wasted alot of money on the paper and postage. why not set up a website for persons to fill out just like the form. How does these people walking door to door to do the census know if i sent my form in the mail or not?

Per the CNN story, the Census takers won’t be going door-to-door until May. Those visits will only be needed for those who did not respond to the mailer.
