Free educational event for uninsured Friday

In honor of National Cover the Uninsured Week, which started Saturday, March 14, and ends Saturday, March 20, the Ohio Department of Insurance and the Ohio Association of Free Clinics are holding free, public discussions across the state to raise awareness about health care options, and the services and availability of free clinics.

The Dayton event will be from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University; Frederick White Building, Room 120, located at 3640 Colonel Glenn Hwy.

Robert Denhard of the ODI said the department is trying to get the word out to all Ohioans about the recent reforms and free clinics in the area.

“If people have questions about reform, private insurance, safety net programs, etc., we will work to answer those,” Denhard said.

According to the ODI, about 1.3 million Ohioans, or 12 percent of the state’s population, lack health insurance.
