Would you buy oatmeal at McDonald’s?

According to Restaurant News, McDonald’s has been testing out a new breakfast item — oatmeal.

The move is in response, according to the article, to successful oatmeal introductions rolled out recently by Starbucks and Caribou Coffee.

And, the story notes, the McDonald’s oatmeal is selling for a hearty $1.99.

But, before you do the math and realize a pack of instant oatmeal (when purchased in a box of 10) runs about 30 cents, the McDonald’s offering looks more substantial and inviting than your average bag of oats and sugar.

The Fruit & Maple Oatmeal, as it is called, includes brown sugar, apples, raisins, cranberries and a touch of cream.

According to a company spokesperson, the oatmeal is selling all day and selling well at McDonald’s restaurants in Northern California, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

I don’t think I would pass up a McGriddle for oatmeal, but I guess it is always good to have options.

For $1.99, that better be one @#$%&*! good bowl of oatmeal.

The oatmeal should be plain for diabetics and heart disease customers!! Most who eat oatmeal don’t need brown sugar and cream!! Toppings should be offered on the side. Should also be on the dollar menu. Then I would buy it with cinnamon and sweet and low on the side.

Marty Fix your “special” oatmeal at home. Let people buy or not buy the product. Isn’t it time for your insulin injection?

No oatmeal, but I would buy boiled pigs feet and bacon covered in chocolate.

I don’t eat at McDonalds. And, well, Marty is right. The oatmeal you do want to eat to recieve ANY benefit from is the old fashioned kind, not the instant, flavored krap that actually does your body more harm than good. But hey, who cares about healthy living, right? VIVA Le McDONALD!!

Next thing you know they will have McWater for $1.99 a bottle and people won’t be able to get enough of it. It would be a good thing for all the fatties in Hamilton and Middletown.

Nope. Just like I wouldn’t buy eggs from Taco Bell.

I already buy it for more than $2 at Starbucks, so yes, I would buy it at McD’s for $1.99.

That race is a factor in the consideration of purchasing oatmeal indicates the cause of Dayton’s economic failure; the Civil War continues in the minds of many of its white residents. Two words: “you lost” It’s oatmeal, losers..

LOL. Had a great laugh reading these comments. Yeah I’ve noticed our Middletown McD’s has become Ghettofied, which makes me kind of leary to even buy food there now. Who knows what crap they are hiding in the sandwiches. Remember that kid at Burger King somewhere who put a pill in the burgers? That was a ghetto BK too:(
