Barnsider to offer retro prices, raffle prizes

In honor of the restaurant’s 35th anniversary, The Barnsider restaurant in Dayton will offer “retro rollback prices” from Tuesday through Saturday, March 9-13.

And just like Marion’s Piazza has done, The Barnsider will offer prices from when it first opened. The only difference is that Marion’s opened (in 1965) a little earlier than Barnsider (1975) so the rollbacks aren’t as significant — but all the extras thrown in make it a very good deal.

The rollback prices at Barnsider during this event reflect the 1980s.

To start, Barnsider will have raffles each night in which patrons could win free dinner for six months, among other deals.

The retro menu includes a Filet Mignon for as low as $14.95 (regularly more than $20), a 10-ounce New York Strip Steak for $13.95 (regularly $19.98) and a 14-ounce New York Strip Steak for $16.95 (regularly $24.95).

Barnsider general manager Lori Curtner added that the restaurant also will be bringing back some menu items that it had discontinued serving for this anniversary special.

“We will have Crab Legs, Ham Steak and Red Snapper, and we are bringing back our Barnsider Burger,” Curtner said. “That is a deep-fried burger, and I really don’t know why we don’t have it anymore.”

Curtner added that the restaurant also will offer three sides instead of two, and have a vegetable and a soup of the day, which they no longer have.

Finally, as an added present to customers, Curtner said they will be handing out coupon cards starting tonight that offer 35 percent off up to six regular dinner entrees. Those coupons will be valid March 14 through November.

The Barnsider is at 5202 N. Main St. in Dayton.

As someone who was around here and eating in 1975 I can tell you that a Filet Minon at local resturants was way cheaper than $14.95. Who do they think they’re kidding with this price rollback scam……..

Why don’t you offer the prices pre Barnsider that would be a real special. Pappy’s Kitchen. That would give patrons a real special. It might bring in new, old coustomers. Bappy Butler would be proud.
