American Idol’s Danny is gone but who will get his votes next week?
I didn’t catch the whole Night at the Museum skit with Ben Stiller and cast but it occurs to me that now begins the time when the stars seem to falling all over themselves to find a way on the show. Even if it is just in the audience! I usually miss the audience shots because I’m typing so let me know who you saw in the audience!
Hey, did you hear Ryan say 88 million votes came in last week? And only a million votes separate the top two.
Alicia Keys comes to Idol tonight to talk about the Idol Gives back program and introduce a young Rwandan singer who wants to raise money by cutting an album for children in his country with AIDS. You can download Noah’s song on iTunes with proceeds going to Idol Gives Back.
Three very different men three very different homecomings.
Ryan calls Danny Gokey to the center of the stage to talk about his trip home to Milwaukee. How weird would it be to travel to an audition with your best friend, wait among thousands of other wanna be singers for a shot at being an American Idol only to return a relatively short time later to women and girls screaming and crying and clawing for an autograph. The most touching part of Danny’s trip home was while he and Jamar were sitting in the convertible surrounded by adoring fans and Danny wipes the tears from his eyes as he says “this is unbelievable.” That certainly had to be a very surreal moment. Probably a bittersweet one remembering the support of his wife who passed away just 10 months ago.
It’s Kris Allen’s turn at center stage as we see his homecoming to Conway, Arkansas. Sounds like one of the first places he hits is one of his favorite restaurants where he is given the gift of cheese dip for life. As a fan of cheese dip myself, that would make me smile. The sea of people in Conway rivaled what any big city could have produced for one of their favorite sons. But my favorite moment was when he arrived at his parents’ house and gets an embrace from his father so full of love and pride well, I could not hold back the tears. And can you imagine what his new bride thinks about all this? She married a great guy who loved music and just a blink later she is riding in a parade with screaming fans all around. Overwhelming probably doesn’t even come close.
Jordan Sparks performs her new single Battlefield accompanied on the piano by co-writer Ryan Tedder from One Republic. Once again, the growth in two years for this season 6 winner is amazing. She hasn’t had the overwhelming success of Daughtry or Underwood but she’s had her share of hits and great artists to partner with and it looks to me that she is not going to slow down anytime soon. And did she look incredible or what? Our little Jordan is all grown up.
It’s Adam Lambert’s turn to talk about his trip to San Diego. As he arrives at the TV station, the TV personality is jumping around by the limo like a silly little girl, and continues to do so during the interview, and in front of the green screen, and outside the studio… Adam then returns to the theatre where as a child he started this amazing journey. Out of all three of the finalist, you can tell that Adam has been preparing and working for this his entire life. He’s a natural star. He IS an American Idol. In fact, he doesn’t seem shaken by any of it until a topless girl tries to find her way across the stage to him.
Katy Perry pops out for her performance with an Adam Lambert embroidered across the back of her cape. Wonder who she supports? She sings, she performs, blah, blah, let’s get to it!!!!
Here we go its 9:56 p.m. and we have waited 56 minutes for this. The first person competing in next week’s finale is Kris! Alright, okay. A bit surprising. Now it could get interesting is it Danny or Adam who will join him? It’s Adam Lambert.
The judges look shocked. I think it has been assumed for weeks that the finale would be Adam and Danny. That is where much of the internet chatter has been. Kara clearly is surprised and while Danny performs Paula doesn’t even try to hold back her tears.
As I listen to Danny sing his last song, my personal hope for him is that he chooses to produce an amazing contemporary Christian album. Knowing his background in Christian music and hearing him now, I can only imagine how many more lives he could touch with his beautiful, inspirational, and heaven sent voice. Again, this is just my personal hope but I’m certain no matter what road he takes, this will not be the last we see of Danny Gokey.
Next week. Wow. Think about it. Only a million votes, out of 88 million, separated Kris and Adam this week. What will happen to Danny’s voting bloc? That alone could influence the outcome. Will Danny fans throw their votes behind the under-dog Kris? Switch to Adam? Or will they stay away from the phones completely?
That alone, Idol fans, could determine the next American Idol!

Skeptical, I thought on a comment board we were welcome on here to make our opinions about the show. I am no where near a music mogul, and yes I have heard of Michael McDonald, and yes Danny reminds me alot of him. None of the people come on here to judge or bash other people’s comments, we give our opinion. That’s all.

I just can’t vote for a guy that wears more makeup than most women, being on TV has nothing to do with wearing that much makeup, oh and the finger nail polish and black at that. Many I know believe he’s gay.

Adam will have a career no matter what, his talent and history have given him the edge he has shown us, someone will pick him up as soon as the show is over, vote for Kris he really is a true American Idol, he fits the definition of the opportunity if you took a risk and made it into a reality…

I tried to watch this show several times. If the emphasis wasn’t on the judges so much and they got rid of the irritating theme music and Ryan Seacrest,I would probably watch it. Maybe Adam can use some of his winnings to do something about that godawful hair.

I have followed the show from Day 1. The top four were extremely accurate, and honestly I would have been fine with any of them winning. However, my vote has been with Adam from Day 1. Kris has the popular vote(the next John Mayer act, if you will), but for those who get chills when they hear Adam sing know that that is something that could NEVER be duplicated. He has his own style, and I understand if it’s not as popular in today’s terms as Kris would be, but you have to know talent like Adam’s is rare to respect his style. Danny was good, but he doesn’t compare to Idols like Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson, in my opinion. I’m excited for the finale. Both acts will go far past American Idol regardless of the results. PS-Adam is NOT screaming and sticking his tongue out. That is hard rock and if you went to an ACDC concert you would see the same thing.

There’s no denying that Danny has a great voice. He will probably have a singing career in Christian music. Unfortunately, he does not have the range, versatility and musical arranging talent that Adam has. I may not like the black hair and fingernails, but its a show for best overall vocal talent and that is Adam. To throw one’s vote over to Kris primarily because one’s favorite did not get to the finals or because they do not like Adams’ style or sexual preference is not what an “American” Idol show is about. Besides, many who do not win go on to have great careers. Good luck to all.

Adam is so versatile and has so much charisma. No doubt he is the best and will win !

I think Adam will win. I didn’t vote after Allison went home because I liked her the best and didn’t really care about any of the guys left. But, Adam is good. Better, and more consistent than Kris. I will vote for him next week, unless he really stinks…but I don’t see that happening.

Danny is my favorite. I thought he would be the winner. An idol is someone who shows a kind and loving side as well as being a good singer. Danny is all that an much more. I think he will be a very popular artist for a long time. The finale will not be as exciting for me because Danny is gone.

Yes, Katy Perry’s cape was really TACKY. Thank goodness we taped the show and got to speed through that! I didn’t make a prediction for the top 2 because we all knew that it would be “Adam and——-“. Anyway, the final will be interesting and Kris could very well end up winning, only because I believe that many of Danny’s votes will go to him. Danny should have a decent future-perhaps in Christian or Country music. For some reason, I don’t see Adam or Kris having the lasting stardom that Kelly, Carrie, Jennifer, and Daughtry have had. Don’t know why, just a feeling I guess. Adam has been so overhyped that folks might forget him fairly soon. Kris is just, well, Kris.

I think it should’ve been Danny and Adam. I’m sure Adam will win, because that’s who the judges are pulling for the most. Kris didn’t do anything exciting until Wednesday night, and that doesn’t prove that he’ll be around for long. I say he’ll be forgotten and Danny will be a smash hit sometime very soon.

Candy - the judges didn’t save Chris, they saved Matt Giraud.

Danny is much more talented than Kris. Danny will land a record contract and have a bright future. Kris will be forgotten within one month. What a shame.

Candy - the judges didn’t save Kris - they saved Matt, so the American people have kept him in.

I am pleased with the results last night. Yes, I would have preferred a Danny/Kris finale - but, this was the next best result for me. I really like both Danny and Kris, but Kris just a little bit more. I do believe that Danny’s fans will gravitate more towards Kris. I can’t see the vast majority of them voting for Adam. So, I think that’s a good thing. One big thing that I have to disagree with you about Kelle…..Adam is not an American Idol. Yes, Adam has talent. Yes, Adam will have a career following this. But, he needs to take it back to Broadway…not mainstream radio. Bring on the finale!

I feel that Danny was robbed of the finale, when the judges saved Chris. It is supposed to be America’s choice and it has turned into judges choice. The semifinal should have been Allison not Chris. He is not at the level of the others and it seems to be that producers fixed it so that Adam would make it for sure. Danny was the front runner all along. Prove to me that Danny is out and maybe my faith in the show will be returned. FIXED!

It is so inspiring to hear from “music moguls” Kelle and Shantei on their plans for Danny’s career! Hilarious! Despite their suggestions, I believe he will succeed in whatever genre HE chooses. Have either of you heard of Michael McDonald? He did quite well in popular music with a similar type of voice. It is clear that there is something very suspicious going on at American Idol regarding the judges “suggesting” that the public vote for certain contestants (ADAM). How does Danny go from NEVER being in the bottom 3 to losing in end to the other two who were??? Hmmm…makes you wonder if this is all REALITY afterall. Anyway, if I decide to watch the finale I will make some calls for Kris because I prefer him over the theatrics and screaming of Adam. I was laughing at Kara with her fake emotions last night, what a joke she is as a judge and hopefully will be let go after this season. The entire show has become pretty sad. Thank goodness for DVR because it has become hard to watch for the most part.

Kris is the man! I thought that the “Adam Lambert” cape that Katy Perry sported was tacky and low class. I would expect the “guests” to be a bit more respectful of all the contestents rather than to gloat on one.

Most of my interest in the show left with Danny. I will watch the finale, but no one will get my vote because I couldn’t care less who wins now. Based on what I’ve seen on the show, I have no desire to purchase music from either of the remaining contestants. A studio album could change that, but Kris bores me and Adam annoys me for the most part. So my votes have been silenced - I can watch without any anticipation or butterflies. Adam seems more fit for the “job” - but I don’t care enough to actually dial the phone. I dunno - a million votes of separation sounds pretty huge to me - it would take a lot of voting to change that spread. Anoop was knocked out by a difference of only 30,000 votes - now that is close!

Next week will be the upset of the year. Danny’s voting block will go to Kris (if what Ryan said is indeed true, only 1 million votes separated Kris and Adam, and we are assuming Adam was the top vote getter), and Kris will be the winner.

i said it would be Adam and Kris. Danny is great in his christian music and I am sure we will see more of him. I love Kris, but I still vote for Adam to win. I love Kris and he is also great with christian music. I am sure we will see him and Danny. I hope that we see more of Allison as I love her to. I did see some of the actors in the audiecenc like Kevin Bacon and etc. Katy Perry was okay. i liked the boy from Africa that sang but he also remined me of paula. was he really singing or liping? if you recored it go back and listen again. if he was singing then his mic was cutting in and out. Simon said that he thought Kris blew danny away and he was right. Simon is very good and he knows what hes talking about. He doesn’t have all these talent shows for nothing. I can’t bleieve what Kara said to him the other night. while he may be the hardest to listen to when it comes to the judges comments, I am sorry but he is usually head on spot. That man is very smart and very talented. If the contenstents would listen instead of judging him so badly they may get farther. he made a comment to adam one time and adam listened and has followed his advice since then. I would hate to see American Idol gone. I love this show and can’t get enough of it. I like Britian Got talent, So you think you can dance and dancing with the stars. I wish they was on all the time. I wait every year for them to come back on. Otherwise it’s channel 7 monday through friday. I record channel 7 when i am watching the other programs on 12. can’t wait for next week. and your right its the phone that gonna determine in the end so vote. vote and vote. I don’t care if adam is gay or straight. I just love his music. and I love Kris and Danny and Allison. I do hope that Scott gets worked with some more and that we see some of his albums because with some work I think he can go far. Those were my picks from the start and that’s where I will stay. Jordan and David Cook can’t wait to h ear more music from them…….Yeah……Taylor Hicks is the only one out of all the seasons that I can’t stand and I won’t buy nothing of his….the other winners I have loved. Take Care and God Bless to Adam and Kris

I voted for danny the entire time. I’m switching my vote to Kris for the finale. Adam is just an act, anybody can stick their tongue out and scream high notes, his lower range is horrible. It reminds me of watching a will ferrell sketch only will ferrell is trying to be funny.

Kelle, I said that the top 2 was Adam and Kris just like you did! And I also said that Danny would make a great contemporary gospel album! Two great minds think alike! Katy Perry was a waste of time. Jordan was good. Next week will be great!
