Danny’s recap clip not LIVE American Idol performance?
I’ll say up front, if what follows is indeed true, I’m really angry about it.
After I was done doing our blog a bit ago, I was checking out a couple of my other favorites and came across something interesting. Brian Mansfield, who does the Idol Chat for USA Today, mentioned something rather nonchalantly in his recap of tonight’s show.
“BTW, for the wrap-up, they show Danny’s rehearsal scream, which was much more controlled.”
I have a very hard time believing they would do this. It seems quite dishonest to me, so I made my husband suffer through a good 15 minutes or so of rewinding and reviewing the end of the live performance and the recap. Live performance…recap.
I think Brian is right. I think they substituted the more controlled rehearsal scream in the recap.
Did anyone else notice this? Does it bother you if they did?

Shantei is correct. There was no rehearsal due to an accident that on May 5th.

Yes, our family noticed and did the rewind thing several times. The rehearsal version was sooooo much better than the live.

I actually noticed a few years ago that the recaps appeared to be from a rehearsal. There has been several times that I noticed differences between the live performance and the re-cap. I just chalked it up to them have the re-cap ready for the end, rather than scrambling to put it together during the show. Doesn’t make me mad because I don’t base my opinion off of a 5 second recap.

I’m with Eve - if they did - it doesn’t matter. Do they wear exactly the same clothing and accessories at rehearsal? I didn’t even notice it and I doubt that most of America did. If it was better - it still wasn’t flattering. Does it make me mad? You mean like how every other contestant just gets plopped at a microphone while Adam ALWAYS get some grand entrance complete with special effects? Even when he did the duet with Allison - she was already on stage and he came from behind somewhere - that aggravated me. Like how Kara has been telling Allison all season that she wants to hear her sing Janis - and when she does, she goes, “not THAT Joplin song,” - especially after Slash encouraged her to change it? Come ON! And how on the duets they pair the two that have rock as their genre and pair the two that so AREN’T rock so the odds are completely uneven? That whole show made me mad last night.

Doesn’t matter. He didn’t get it right rehearsing w/Slash, he didn’t get it right in rehearsal, and he sure as heck didn’t get it right on the show. And if he gets booted tomorrow night (which probably is not going to happen) I guarantee he’ll butcher it again. Scream On!

Kelle, that was the first thing I said to my mom on the phone. I said the second time, Danny sounded 10 times better. But I also thought that at the beginning of the show Ryan said that they didn’t get a chance to do a rehearsal performance because of the stage prop collapsing. I don’t know…
