Nina Garcia Auf’d by Elle; Project Runway Update

Elle Magazine and Nina Garcia, fashion editor of the magazine and star judge of “Project Runway,” have parted ways.

Nymag.com and Women’s Wear Daily are both reporting Garcia is out.

Nymag.com is reporting:

“From someone in the know, her office was entirely boxed, packed, and waiting in the hallways addressed to her home on the upper east by 5pm yesterday. Plus, the gaggle of crying assistants dragging deflated cardboard down the hall for assembly, in addition to Nina’s demonstrative speaking behind closed doors (made visible by a glass partition) also prompts one to believe that she was not leaving of her own accord.”

Sounds more like an episode of ‘Ugly Betty’ - although, isn’t fashion always filled with drama?

In an interesting twist, Jossip.com is reporting Garcia and this season’s Project Runway winner Christian Siriano had just completed filming an episode of ‘Ugly Betty.’ Isn’t it interesting how real life and fiction get so intertwined.

Garcia had been at Elle since 2000.

Oh DUH - after rereading I see that she has been booted from Elle - at first I thought that Elle & Nina were booted from Project Runway - so perhaps the new editor will be a judge? Still will be interesting to watch it all play out - but I still feel badly for her - not something I’d wish on anyone!

So did she just get booted from Project Runway, or did she get cut from Elle as well? Will Elle no longer be the outlet for the fashion spread of the winner? It makes me wonder what the replacement will be. Has PR gotten so big that bigger dog now wants to take it over???
